Farmington, Arkansas is located in Washington County west of Fayetteville. The area was first settled in 1828 by William H. Engles out of Virginia who ran a grist mill along Farmington Creek. The first church was built in 1834, serving as a school and a community center. The town was known as Engles Mill until 1868 when it was renamed Farmington.
